02 - Dark Eldar Commission - Test Model

My Ork IG has been temporarily sidelined as a result of a Dark Eldar army commission. This is the first time that I will be painting an entire army as a commission so I'm excited. I've usually only done a couple of units/solos in the past.

I think the hardest part will be keeping up a good pace so that the project gets finished in a timely manner. As much as I detest doing "production line" painting where you paint one piece, e.g leather pouches, for a whole squad all at once, it is key for saving time and making sure that the time spent painting is efficiently used. Plus it is somewhat rewarding when you finish the last item on all the models as you suddenly have 10 models done as opposed to just one if you focus on them one at a time.

Below is the test model for the army. They client requested a pink/purple colour scheme with only the edges being that colour, similar to the studio scheme. This particular gentleman will be part of a Trueborn squad so I'm giving them various metallic pieces, in this case shoulder pads, to help them stand out. Let me know what you think!

I'm working on an orktastic Imperial Guard army. The first unit I'm going to tackle is a penal legion squad, specifically an Ork version of Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers.

First up, Shiv!

Like most of his fellows in the 13th Penal Legion little is known of the man called 'Shiv'. His past, name, and whether he served in the Imperial Guard, like most of the Last Chancers, is all shrouded in mystery. Fitting for a man as quiet as Shiv.

What is known is that until Colonel Schaeffer plucked him out of the Arbites hands on Lector Prime. Shiv was being held in temporary custody following an investigation into the serial murder of twenty civilians over a five year period. An accomplished assassin, Shiv is fully capable of infiltrating almost any area undetected and it is rare for a man to every hear him coming unless he wants them to.

Where he acquired such rare weapons as a plasma pistol and mono-filament knife are simply more questions to the ever growing list, however, wherever they came from Shiv uses them both masterfully.

I wanted to keep the the Native American feel to the model so I used a Savage Orc torso with 40k weapons and armor plating/gear. I'm going to strap a Plasma Pistol to him as well to go along with his desciption.

Request - Does anyone have a copy of the rules for Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers? I would love to see them!
